Few Sockeye Salmon came to spawn this autumn in the Adams River in British Columbia Canada, which normally hosts one of the largest salmon "runs" in all of North America. Despite the low numbers, the sight was still spectacular. These fish were born on this river bed 5 years ago, and after an adventurous life travelling to and from the ocean and surviving all of the perils inherent in such a journey (including the impact of humans' pollution and fishing), they return here, to the place of their origin, to spawn before dying and completing their cycle. Talk about courage!
